Gaming Curfew

Did you know in China there is a gaming curfew? People can only have 90 minutes on weekdays from 8am to 10pm and on the weekends and public holidays people can only have 3 hours. Did you also know that children aged from as little from 8 to 18 can spend at least $30 bucks on gaming each month? And did you know that in one year children can spend up to $360?

Gaming can be classified dangerous but only if you ‘overuse’ the purpose. First of all Gaming can become addictive,- A condition of being addicted to a particular substance or activity- games such as Fortnite, mobile device games like Candy Crush,Prodigy and other games can be addictive. There’s also now a military-style camp for parents whose children are addicted to games. WHO-World Health Organization- has also found a disorder for gaming. A gaming disorder does not just mean for a person to play video games a bit too much.
WHO has classified it as a much more deliberate condition, which has a very negative impact on a person's well-being.
It can be recognized by these symptoms:

  • Impaired control over gaming-When a person is playing games for a various period of time, very regularly, without the ability to stop themselves from doing so.
  • Increasing priority given to the gaming to the quantity that gaming takes precedence over life interest and daily activities- When a person place’s gaming more important than daily activities like eating, washing, going to the toilet or even leaving the house.
  • Continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences- When a person is unable is stop gaming, despite it having a significant strong negative impact on their personal wellbeing, family, school or work life, and social ability.
In order for a person to officially be diagnosed with this order they have to be shown all above symptoms to a very extreme level for at least 12 months. This gaming order has to be more than playing video games a little to much.

I am going to reason why gaming is also a positive thing.

Gaming can help improve a lot of things like:

  •  Your concentration-span- An obvious thing to point out about gaming as the person/people playing the game need to concentrate.
  • Magnified teamwork contribution-When a person playing a video game, the person needs to work as a team in a multiplayer game. Even though the person is working as a team she or he needs to be able to make decisions for the team.
  •  Improved motor-skills- Playing video games also needs some fine motor-skills-When a person has to move the fingers and the thumbs on various buttons very efficiently and very precis. This may not be found in all video games.
  • Enriched social-skills-Most people playing games online like to guide people in helping the team or duo to win or find the objective of the game.
I hope you can decide either limiting gaming with a curfew or let people decide how long we can play games for.

Fireworks

Fireworks

I can hear a loud whistle boosting into the sky. I step out to find a massive sound ringing in my ears.I seek to find that mysterious explosive. I swung myself around and found a big ball of smoke. I wait on my doorstep still keeping my eyes locked on where I saw that smoke. The smoke started to disappear into the night. I got tired of waiting and was about to go back inside when I hear another whistle, it must be the explosive. My eyes watch what looked like a bird speeding for a worm shoot up and pop… It bursted into what looked like part of a lion main. Then another and another popped into the sky,my eyes were dazzling as I walked down the porch and stared into the sky. This was majestic as can be. To finish with the beautiful stars above.
The next morning I woke up with fresh eyes. I bounced out of bed-Those fireworks made must of me me improve in my way I act- and sprung for the Tv remote. I switched the Tv on while lounging on the couch. The news flicked on “ several fire calls during the night have been reported.” I hear from the news reporter. “Citizens of the public are using fireworks incorrectly. Firefighter’s are told to be ready to fight as the number of fire could rise” I sat there with a face of disapproval.

On the 15th of October my hub found out what our names meant. We viewed a video of Taiye Selasi who asked why cant you just ask me where am I a local rather than where I am from?
This is where my teacher Miss Gallagher found the three R's. R number 1 Rituals. This is what the things you do everyday maybe you say a prayer before you go to bed or you eat a setian food in the morning,R number 1.

Rain Writing

Rain

I can hear tiny little droplets of water
forcing itself towards the ground.

If I were deaf the coldness of the rain
 would make me shiver.

And I should know the rain by the bland
taste and the aftertaste of nothing.

The solid beat sound of the rain makes me
want to be a conductor.

If I shall not
 feel,hear,smell,see or even

 a slight taste.

 You would still
 characterize me
 circlaute me
 shower over me

Writing Wk7 Trm2

I stared below my feet and realized that I was standing right next to a dead body. I looked around and found everything was out of place and things were on fire. Everyone had fled out but me.
I was in the School hall. The projector was flickering and I found a few people laying dead. It looked like something tall rampaged through and hit everything out of its path. I can’t remember if I tried my hardest I’ll feel drowsy.
A few minutes later of trying to remember, I ran out of school and ran up town. Everything was… Different, everything was broken into like shops and places where you would buy stuff. The clock hands stop at 1:24. I pondered and then had a flashback. People were running all over the place, packing up most of their belongings and hiding hoping that something or someone wouldn’t find them. I tried to remember what everyone was running from. Oh no!!
To be continued…

If I were stuck in Pak N Save

If I were stuck in Pak N Save with Alayna I would race around in all isles.”Crr. Clean up in Aisle 7.” I would make fort’s out of toilet paper. Stock up on toilet paper unwrap them and throw them at Alayna. Waiting until Alayna tries to find me and squirt dishwashing liquid on the floor. (Woah) The sound of Alayna shouting when she slips. Alayna trying to find me when I’m all the way up in the empty boxes. “Alayna” I Whisper. I knock down some boxes(Woops). Chugging back loads of Louis Road Milk. Seeing who can chug back the fastest. “ We have a winner” Kalahz declares in a deep voice. “ Congrats to Zhalak the fastest chugger in all of Pak N save.” Milk Bottles, food boxes and lollie packet lying around on the floor. Running and jumping onto a crate that has wheels. CRASH, Kalahz crashes into a shelf. Bruises are all over. Kalahz rolling around on the floor giggling, Alayna staring at me weirdly while shaking her her slowly. “Ooh Alayna you need a nappy” I say to Alayna with a wide grin. Kalahz boosts off with Alayna closely following behind. Kalahz Makes a sharp turn forgetting that she poured dishwashing liquid on the floor. Kalahz sliding through the isles. That’s what I’ll will do.

The White Rhino Wk5 Trm3

This week my group had to do a research about a animal. We were given two links to visit. I choose WWF which stands for World Wildlife Foundation. This website shows you about animals all around the world. I went onto Species and clicked on Rhinos, I instantly saw a picture of a Rhino, I scrolled down to see how many Speices of Rhinos there were, Why the Rhino's matter and Threats to a Rhino. I clicked onto White Rhino and found my self feeling sad for the Rhinos, then I thought wait this could be the animal that I needed to research on.
Open the slide and find what I researched about.

Thank You Letter to The Glow Show Company

Thursday 4th July 2019
To the Glow Show Company, Thank you for this amazing sight that most of the students viewed from Papakura Central School sighted on Wednesday 26th June 2019.

As the soft music fades away, the lights darken down and a man starts to introduce the show, it was the Matariki glow show located at the Hawkins theatre. This magical sight happen because the Glow Show Company lavishly gave PCS 310 tickets.Usually, the tickets are $10 dollars per person but we just had to pay a gold coin donation. (I mean how cool is that?).The faces of the children were pulling during the appearance of the puppets was priceless and glowing just like the show. This Matariki show also taught the students Maori words like Tama nui te ra, Tawhirimatea and the classic Taniwha.

My favourite character was Mr Tutu the Taniwha.Mr Tutu was not afraid to embrace his feelings through song form. Most people (a.k.a. me) thought he was a sea snake because of the way he moved and looked. He voice was mesmerising deep and croaky. The glowing of his body reflected into my eyes.I’m guessing that sticks were used to operate this incredible figurine.

Two men and two young ladies put on this display. Most people would have thought it would have taken heaps of people to establish on such a big show but it only took four people. Practising for heaps weeks to go from theatre to theatre to perform such a sight. Thanks to the Glow Show Company for letting our school have a discount to attend to Matariki Glow Show.

This was an unforgettable moment. From one of the attendees Kalahz.

Hiwi The Kiwi

Interested in fishing? Well today I am gonna talk about learning safety on New Zealand water. Did you know that plastic’s that humans make can hurt the Black Petrels, so lets SOS (Save Our Seabirds). You don't want to catch seabird do you? Well pick up the waste at a beach put it into your pocket take it home and put it in the bin. Fishing for the future is thinking about other people when you are fishing and leaving some sealife for the future crowd. Here are some more things to check when catching fish. When fishing meauresing fish, always measure from the middle of the fishes tail to the its nose, this way you can see if the fish not to full size.when handling with fish always use a fish ruler.
Do you know how to pick up a fish properly? Well when you pick up a fish it’s always first-rate to pick up a wet towel or to wet your hands. When you have caught a salt fish wash it with salt water for fresher results. As you freeze the salt water fish put it in salt water ice not fresh water as it will rot easier.
Safety is a very important thing when your on water.Always wear a life jacket when in a boat,Kayak, canoe or simply just on a paddle board. When on a floating object checking for hazards is a tremendous thing, big logs, Littles boats or swimmers can get in the way from ships.
These have been the ways of staying safe on New Zealand waters.

Feeling Calm

Friday 10th May 2019
Feeling calm Have you ever been so stressed that you want to wreak and smash things, your heavily breathing or screaming at someone? Here are some ways that you can feel calm.Firstly, Go to kit kat face the wall then flip the timer.Think about your happy place is it bedtime, eating or watching your favourtie show on tv? When you know your calm your not screaming at everyone or wanting to smash or wreak and you're breathing softly.
Why is being calm so important? Being calm is an important thing because being angry all the time isn’t great for your health,If you always have a rapid heart rate, increasing heat in your neck and head and/or grinding teeth isn’t so amazing. Another reason why being calm is important, so you don’t hurt the people around you.
What can “set” you off? The little things can set you off like someone touching something that’s yours chromebook, pencil or simply yourself. Trying to stay calm when someone touches something can sometimes make it worse than what it already is. What are some ways to feel calm at home? You could face the wall, look out the window or run around to get out all the energy.
These are ways of feeling calm.

Bot

Kalahz Papakura 9/4/19 Board Of Trustees Papakura Central School Dear Board Of Trustees I would like to thank the BOT for the 2 new tremendous TV’s in the Kauri hub and the rest of the school classes. These TV’s have less wires and things that hang from the side. Now our learning technology is modern, the teachers can now sit anywhere in the class and not stand half-way into the TV screen. We can see the TV screen from a long distance away. The TV’s are lighter than the older TV’s. These TV’s have smaller wheels than the more ancient one’s. The teachers are able to go on hapara and see what the students are doing in a clearer way. These TV’s are able to level to a higher or lower elevation. The teacher also love to play and listen to funky cool music on these screen’s. I appreciate the funding you have raised for our TV’s that everybody loves. Kind and warm regards Kalahz
